The club F.C. Sfîntul Gheorghe is named after the Christian martyr Saint George, who can be found in the club´s logo. The club itself was found in summer 2003. But till 2007 there were only youth teams in Suruceni, so that the club didn´t appear in any mens league. The under-18 team won the Moldovan championship in 2007 so that the club decided to have a mens team that would take part of next years Divizia A. While having a good infrastructure the club promoted after the season 2008/2009 to the top level, even if they finished only at place 11 of the league table.

The village of Suruceni is only 10 kilometres west of the capital. On the western end of the village one can find the home of F.C. Sfîntul Gheorghe, the Stadionul Sătesc. It has a new grass pitch with a building and a small covered balcony. Beside the building one can find tw rows of wooden bleachers. In 2007 the building was renovated and painted in club colours. Next to the grass pitch exists also a new artificial pitch.
