Nickname:
The city of Bender has 140.000 inhabitants and is the fourth-biggest one in Moldova. The name Bender comes from the Russian language and therefore the city has also a Romanian name: Tighina (The initial Romanian name being Tighina, firstly mentioned in 1408 during the reign of Alexandru cel Bun). The city lies on the west banks of the Nistru-River and is only 10 kilometers far from Tiraspol. Even if Bender is on the western part of the Nistru-River the city belongs to Transnistria. The stadium from Dinamo was rebuild in the last years. They built a big two tier stand with exactly 5.061 wooden seats in club colours blue-white. Beside the main stand there are only four old floodlight masts around the pitch. When Dinamo returned to the top level after six years in second division they had to play some matches in the Stadion Şelkovic, where nowadays only the farm team of Dinamo plays its home matches.
